Murrelektronik Xelity

The Murrelektronik Xelity managed switches run logiccloud Control in an LXC container on the device itself, so one device is both the network switch and the PLC runtime.

All six variants are supported. The PN variants add Profinet.

Select your exact device type when you create the device in the logiccloud IDE.

Every variant runs on the same platform:

Three services can run on a Xelity beside the runtime. Only the first is installed automatically; the other two you enable yourself under Edit device processes.

ServiceEnabledWhat it does
Edge license serviceAlwaysHandles licensing on the device.
Debugging serviceOptionalLets you debug the running program online from the IDE.
OPC UA browsing serviceOptionalLets the IDE browse the OPC UA address space of the device.

No Xelity container is linked from this documentation yet. Contact logiccloud support to obtain the correct container image for your device.

The other LXC devices publish theirs on the logiccloud downloads page — for example INSYS MRX and Perinet periMICA. This page will link the Xelity container once it is published.

  1. Open the web interface of your Xelity switch and log in.
  2. Find the container management area of the interface.
  3. Upload the container image you received, and confirm the upload.
  4. Edit the container and configure its network, so that it reaches the internet and is reachable from your network. On comparable devices this means setting:
    • the network bridge or interface to use,
    • the IPv4 address of the container — a free address in the same network as the device, for example 192.168.1.21 if the device is 192.168.1.1,
    • the IPv4 netmask, for example 24,
    • the IPv4 gateway, which is normally the address of the device itself.
  5. Save the configuration, then apply or activate it.

3. Connect the device and install the runtime

Section titled “3. Connect the device and install the runtime”

Once the container runs, open the installation interface at the container IP you configured — 192.168.1.21 in the example above. From there you create the device in the logiccloud IDE, connect it with its device token, and install the runtime.
